We spent last week in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. We stayed in a house right on the beach, and the weather was beautiful! Here's some of my favorite pictures!

So there's an explanation behind this picture. The day before this was taken, we were at the beach and a huge wave came up and soaked us. It completely freaked Addison out! She was frantically running around, crying, trying to pick everything up! I felt bad that it scared her so much, but also couldn't help but laugh at the sight of her running around trying to pick up the heavy water-soaked blanket, her toys, the beach umbrella, and anything else in sight! After that, she was terrified of the beach and wouldn't go remotely close to the water. This picture is her reaction to us making her go a little too close to the ocean :)

Caden at 6 Months

I can't believe Caden is already a half a year old already! It's so fun to see more and more of his personality every day!

At 6 months, Caden...
-just started sitting up
-loves his exersaucer. Especially the toy on it that spins and makes noise! (I'll try to post a video soon)
-is very vocal and screams a lot, although he grunts a lot too :)
-wears 9 month clothes. Most 6 month clothes are almost too tight, and 12 month clothes fit, but are a little big.
-eats SO much! He'll usually put down a good amount of cereal and a whole 2nd foods container for each meal!
-loves vegetables, and starting to like fruits more
-likes laughing at/with his big sister...especially in the car! It's so cute to listen to!
-is soothed by his tag blanket. No pacifiers for him. He never took to them!
-usually puts himself to sleep at night, but needs help being put to sleep for naps.
-has many toys he likes, but his favorites are a small stuffed Tigger, and a rubber bead & bug teething ring.
-chews on his pointer finger or thumb all the time. Teething is pretty hard on him!
-doesn't like laying on the floor much now that he can sit up.
-really wants to be able to move on his own, but usually ends up doing a face plant on the floor trying to reach for things :)
-weighs 17 lbs 5 oz (about the 45th percentile)
-is 27 1/4" tall (around the 75th percentile)...which is about an inch taller than Addison was at his age!
-is a pretty mellow and happy baby!

Ok, guess I'm not too good at keeping up with the monthly updates. But, I do have monthly pictures...well, at least Caden's 5 month pictures. Guess I don't have his 4 month ones on the computer yet :) Maybe one of these days I'll actually take the time to post more updates instead of just pictures!

Where has the time gone?

So my goal was to write down what Caden is up to at every 1 month birthday. I got up to 2 months, but when the 3rd month came around, I kept putting it off and telling myself that I'll remember what he's up to when I get the chance to write it down. Now, Caden is 4 months old and I never wrote down anything about 3 months and if I don't do it soon, I'll forget about the 4th month too! So, believe it or not, I haven't written down anything yet, so you're not going to get to read it on the blog this time. I just thought I'd post some pictures I took while we were playing outside the other day. Once I get Caden's 4 month pictures taken, I'll post those along with his monthly update :)

Caden is 2 Months Old!

Well, he turned 2 months old 11 days ago...hehe. Seems like I haven't had much time to blog lately! We're in the process of potty-training Addison so that takes up a lot of time...having to take her to the bathroom frequently and clean up after her even more frequently! But, on the good side, she's getting better every day so hopefully she'll catch on soon!

So, at 2 months Caden...
- smiles a lot! He's in his best mood after he eats and will smile and "talk" to you!
- already has the typical brother/sister relationship with Addison. He is already showing annoyance at Addison when she gets too close, or puts her hands in his face!
-sleeps best when swaddled
-sleeps a majority of the night. He usually goes to bed around 9 and wakes up around 5 to eat. He'll sleep for about an hour after that, then he's tired of being all wrapped up. If I lay him on my chest he'll sleep anywhere between 1 and 2 hours more!
-weighs 12 pounds 13 oz
-is 23.5" long
-is so much bigger than Addison was at his age. We joke that he'll catch up with Addison in weight by the time he's 1 year old...and she's 3 1/2! haha!
-likes to sit in the bouncer seat and look at the toys hanging from it
-can hold his head up for a good amount of time, but get's tired eventually
-fits perfectly into 3 month clothes, and can fit into 6 month clothes, although some are still a little big.

Caden David Lechlitner

I'm just a little late at posting this, but I guess it's better late than never! :)

After not really being able to totally decide if I wanted to just have a planned C-section or try a VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) I just decided to schedule a C-section around my due date, and planned on trying a VBAC if I went into labor before that. On Sunday, January 30th, I went into labor early in the morning. The contractions were consistent and kept getting closer so we headed to the hospital around 9 am. After we got checked in and the Dr. came in, they had me walk for an hour because I was only 1 cm dilated. There was still no progress after that hour, and a while after that, the Dr. broke my water in hopes that it would speed up labor. My contractions got much stronger and closer together, but after being in labor all day, I wasn't even 2 cm so we decided to go ahead with a C-section. Caden was born at 10pm, was 8 lb 1oz, and 21.5" long.

When Addison came to meet her brother for the first time, she wasn't really too interested. I think she was just more excited to see us! Once we got home, it didn't take long for her to become interested in him. She wanted to carry him and squeeze him, and didn't understand why she couldn't do that! She enjoys being a big sister for the most part, but gets jealous every now and then.

Now, Caden is over a month old and we're all adjusting to being a family of 4! It's not always easy, but we're getting the hang of it. Addison still really enjoys having Caden around and almost gets a little too excited when she's around him. She likes to give him kisses and show him her toys. She thinks she needs to put them about a half inch from his face just to make sure he can see them! Addison still won't say his name, although I know she could if she just tired. So, instead she calls him "B" for baby.

At 1 month, Caden...

-gets an upset tummy when he eats. We give him gas drops as often as allowed and that seems to help a little. This causes him to not sleep very well because he wakes up with gas pains. Sometimes all it takes is to sit him up and burp him, but that doesn't always work.
-is a very light sleeper. You'd think he wouldn't be for how loud his sister is all the time, but he doesn't sleep very well when she's up and playing.
-sleeps in 2 to 3 hour increments. I'm really looking forward to the time he sleeps more at night!
-eats about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
-is starting to stay awake for longer periods during the day.
-likes to stare at you when you're holding him. He also likes looking at the black shelves on the walls.
- makes lots of funny faces!

-is built completely different than Addison. We figured he'd be skinny like Addison was/is, but he already weighs about 12 lbs, has a really round and full face, and even has cute little fat rolls...that Addison never had! :)
-wears mostly 3 month clothes, and is in size 1 diapers.
-is starting to make little noises, besides crying
-smiles as he is falling asleep...super cute!!! :)
-likes to be held and moving most of the time. I ordered a baby carrier that I can wear over my shoulders so that I can hold him and still tend to Addison too :) Hopefully this helps me be able to get more things done during the day, but we'll see!
-is such a cute little guy and we're looking forward to seeing how he changes and grows as time goes on!

After putting Addison down for her nap yesterday I went downstairs and found a pencil sitting at the end of the stairs, along with some of Addison's toys. I picked up the pencil thinking to myself, "I better pick this up before she decides to write on something." As I was heading back upstairs a little while later I saw some writing on the wall where the pencil was! Then, I looked up the stairs and saw another "drawing"...and another...and another!

I guess that's what I get for working in my craft room while assuming she's playing...hehe! :)

We got back on Friday from our trip to California. Addison and I did a lot of walking around the area and hanging out at the hotel while Chunny went to meetings. He did take a day off from "work stuff" to go to Disneyland with us! We knew Addison was going to love it...especially when she would yell every time she saw a Disney shuttle bus with Toy Story or Minnie and Mickey on it!

As an early Christmas present, we got her some new movies to keep her busy on the flight and at the hotel.

She had fun running around and picking bark off the tree in this little courtyard at the hotel.

Off to Disneyland!

This was taken on the very first ride we went on. As you can see, we were busy shooting aliens while Addison wasn't sure to cry or not :)

Next stop was Toon Town where Minnie and Mickey live.

Mickey wasn't home at the time so we had to go back later to see him.

Two of Addison's favorite rides were basically "fair rides." She loved the carousel, but wouldn't look at me so I could get a picture of her! Then Addison and I waited in line for the Dumbo ride.

She entertained herself by putting my hair in my face. For some reason, that was SO funny :)

Some of the rides were kinda scary for Addison. Many were dark inside and she didn't know what to think. This ride, however, was completely Addison-friendly :)

Then we got the chance to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Addison was fine as long as she didn't get too close to them! It was getting to be her nap time so she was a little emotional.

When we went back to see Mickey, he signed her book then we tried to get a picture with him. Addison kept putting her fingers in her mouth and Mickey thought he would try to make her laugh by getting close to her and lightly trying to pull her hands away from her face. She on the other hand did not think it was funny and was scared by him! After the pictures were done, Mickey felt so bad that he went over to the wall and started banging his head against it :)

After a nap, lunch, and a snack, Addison was back to her normal self and we stopped by to see Tinkerbell and some of the other fairies.

Addison kept picking out this toy at some of the different shops so we thought it'd be a good one to buy her. She played with it while we sat and waited for the parade to start. The pictures are kinda dark, but I basically took them for Addison to look at later. Here are some of her favorite characters.

Had some time to kill so we went bowling at the nicest bowling alley we've ever been to.

So, besides the fact that we were up every morning at 4 because Addison never adjusted to California time, we had a great trip! :)

1st Trick-or-Treating!

Addison wasn't too thrilled with wearing her Halloween costume. She was supposed to be a fairy and when I bought the wings about 2 months ago she loved wearing them. I only let her wear them 1 other time after that so she wouldn't get tired of them. Then after I made the tutu I put it on her to try it on and she loved it! So we figured she'd love to wear her whole costume on Halloween. We were wrong! It was a fight to just get the tutu on...forget the wings! So, I guess she just ended up being a ballerina :)

What we were originally concerned about was how shy she'd be when she actually got up to the houses to get her candy...and she actually surprised us! She wasn't too sure about it the first couple times, but once she realized that she got candy, she was all for it! We couldn't get her to say "trick-or-treat", but she did say "please" and "thank you!" :) She also thought she needed to eat every piece of candy she got! Although we didn't let her do that, she still ate plenty of it! Maybe next year she'll be more excited to wear her costume and now I guess she just has a nice fairy costume to play dress-up in when she feels like wearing it :)

Addison's transition to a "big girl bed" was a success! She didn't have any problem adjusting, so we were happy for that! She still hasn't realized that she can actually get out of bed on her own when she wakes up in the morning, but I'm fine keeping it that way for a while :) The minute I open her door up in the morning she hops right out, so you'd think she'd realize she could do that on her own without me in there! Here she is playing with her babies on her bed before her first night sleeping like a big girl :)

Pumpkin Carving

We carved our pumpkins on Friday night. Right away, I knew what Addison's should be...Diego, or as she says, "e-oh". She has been obsessed with anything Diego and could watch "Go Diego Go" all day long if allowed :) So, she was pretty excited to see him going onto her pumpkin!

She wasn't too sure what to think of the stuff inside!

She only touched it with a spoon. Chunny purposely dropped some of the insides onto her hand and right away she wanted it wiped off!

She sat there for a long time just scooping it up :)

Her daddy patiently carved the pumpkin for her! I was expecting to have to finish it, but he did it all :)

I tried just carving the top layer of the pumpkin without actually cutting through it. It actually turned out better than I thought it would!

Of course we couldn't get Addison to look at the camera, but she loves her Diego pumpkin. Today when we were in the car leaving for church, she pointed out the window and said with excitement "e-oh!!!"

Pumpkin Patch

Today we took a trip to Kercher's to pick out some pumpkins and apples. We took a short hayride to the pumpkin patch to let Addison pick out her own pumpkin, but all she wanted to do was pick them up and drop them/throw them back on the ground!

After we found our pumpkins Addison needed a snack and wanted a doughnut. Addison picked out a pumpkin one that we probably wouldn't have chosen if we knew it was pumpkin. Luckily she like it and ate almost the whole thing! We also enjoyed an apple cider slushee!

Then we headed to the apple orchard and picked some apples.

Addison had lots of fun, but absolutely would not look at the camera....so, we just had to get action shots! :)

2nd Birthday Party

We all had fun at Addison's birthday party yesterday! We chose a Minnie Mouse theme since she likes to watch Mickey Mouse Club House so much :)

Addison had lots of presents to open up thanks to her grandparents, great grandparents, and aunts and uncles! She got lots of clothes, which she wasn't interested in at all, and of course some toys too! Some of her favorites include a couple movies, a tricycle, her play kitchen, and play food and dishes!

After opening presents we sang happy birthday and ate some cupcakes! Addison wasn't too sure what to think of everyone singing to her and didn't want to blow out her candles, so her Grandma Osborn did it for her :)

After eating some cake she was ready to go back to playing with her kitchen!

After everybody left, Addison was completely worn out and went to bed without a peep! She usually talks in her crib for about a half hour or so :) I'd say Addison had a great time at her 2nd birthday party!!!

South Carolina Vacation

We had a great time on our vacation to South Carolina! We first visited Keith, Jenn, and Collin for a few days, then we headed to Myrtle Beach for a few days. It was a long week, but it was lots of fun!

We left last Friday morning at 3:30 in the morning, hoping that Addison would continue to sleep for a couple more hours. Well, we were wrong! She was wide awake once we put her in her car seat and didn't fall asleep for about 2 hours (and only slept for about 30 min.) She napped very briefly later in the day and that was it! Luckily she was in such a tired daze that she was pretty quiet/out of it for most of the trip! It wasn't until we were about 2 hours from Keith and Jenn's that she started getting tired of being in the car...so we turned on some movies and she was happy :)

She was so tired she fell asleep with lots of toys in her lap. When we tried to take the car away, she woke up for a brief second to try to keep us from taking it, but she didn't stay awake quite long enough :)

Addison and Collin didn't pay too much attention to each other, although Collin liked Addison more than she liked him...hehe :) She loved all of his toys and said "no, bee (baby)" when he came close to her, afraid he was going to take "her" toys away!

The first day we were there, Saturday, we just hung out by the pool and relaxed. Addison saw that Collin would wear his swim floats, so she finally decided that she would wear them too! (She refused to wear them whenever we swam at my parent's house). Then on Sunday we took a trip to Charleston, which was a really neat place! We'd love to go back sometime! We let the kids play on the playground, walked around for a while and found a really cool fountain, and went to a yummy seafood restaurant for dinner (followed by fudge and ice cream).

On Monday we went out on the lake, let the kids swim, drove around so they could nap, and did some wake-boarding...well, Chunny, Keith, and Jenn did, I didn't :)

We left the Fishburn's on Tuesday and headed to Myrtle Beach until Friday. Addison got to swim in the ocean for the first time and really liked it! She wasn't too sure about the taste of the salt water at first, but then decided that playing in the water was worth it :) We had to keep a hold of her because the tide was so strong it would knock her over! She loved finding seashells on the beach and digging in the sand.

Our resort had about 10 different pools that Addison really liked too! There was a kiddy pool that was only 1.5' deep with a couple slides that she loved! There was also a deeper pool that had a little channel to a shallow pool that was really nice too!

On our last day before we headed out we had a little photo shoot.

I've been slacking

I've just not been in the mood to update the blog lately, but I figured I better start posting stuff before months go by. A couple weeks ago we took Addison to the fair. She really enjoyed looking at all the animals, but didn't want to get too close to any of them

She got to ride the carousel, but wasn't too sure about it at first. Daddy had to hold her for a little bit, but after it started going, she quickly came to like it and let him sit her down.

She also wasn't to sure about the helicopter, but her pacifiers helped calm her :)

Once the ride was over, I think she realized that she did like the ride (or maybe she was glad to be off!)

Bread

So the other day, I walked outside to help Chunny with something for just a minute. When I came back in, this is what I found....

Addison was standing there with the bread bag, and as I walked up to her, I found she had 4 pieces of bread stacked up on her little table! It had bites taken out of it!

So then she picked it up and started walking around with it. It was so funny/cute that I couldn't punish her, so instead I got Chunny to come in and see. He got the video camera out and caught her in action...I'll try to post that later!

Then she climbed up on the chair and just chomped away at her bread!

As Chunny and I were laughing and talking about it, we also found some more bread with bites taken out of it...haha!

She then lined up the bread...

...and started eating the middles out of it!

I let her keep 1 piece to eat and saved the rest for later. Once she was done, she went right back to playing :)

Now, when she thinks I'm not paying enough attention to her, she'll go to the drawer and get the bread out. She's wasted almost an entire loaf of bread! I think it's time to baby-proof that drawer or put the bread somewhere else!

Spring

I tried to get this post done a while ago, but it kept having problems uploading the pictures. So finally...Here's some pictures from the past couple weeks. We got our new riding lawnmower delivered so Chunny took Addison for a ride. Now she tries to climb up on it whenever she sees it in the shed.
We also went to Winona Lake so Chunny could do some mountain biking, so Addison and I hung out at the park. The weather was perfect...sunny and warm! We all got sun tans from being out all day!

Addison got to have 2 Easter egg hunts. At the first hunt, it took a while for her to understand what she was supposed to do, but once she finally figured it out, most of the kids had found the other eggs. Then at the 2nd hunt, she was the only kid so she got all the eggs to herself and had lots of fun running around the yard to pick up all the eggs!

Addison really likes to pretend and copy what we're doing. Today when I was washing the windows she had to have her own spray bottle and paper towel so she could "spray and wipe" the windows! She also likes to feed her baby her sippy cups and give them her pacifiers :) Here she was "helping" grandma spray paint some chairs. Hopefully it won't be so long before my next post!
Oh, and congratulations to Trent and Nicole on their engagement!

18 Months

At 18 months, Addison...

-is 32.5" tall (75th percentile)
-weighs 21 lbs (15th percentile)
-wears 18-24 month clothes, although 12 month pants fit her best...they're just way too short!
-still talks mostly in her own language, but says "baby" "what's that" "please" "hi" and "bye" and is starting to repeat random words we say
-loves running around outside in the grass and digging with her little shovel and bucket in the dirt
-can pull herself up on most chairs and couches
-still loves carrying around her babies and build-a-bear
-is starting to really like little figurines. She'll line them up along the coffee table :)
-finally decided that she likes baths again
-brushes her own teeth. She'll sit up on the toilet and point up to her tooth brush
-likes the tv show Fresh Beat Band the most, but also likes Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Club House, Backyardigans, Sesame Street, and Veggie Tales-only likes to eat at her own little table...at least when she's at home. She'll sit in high chairs at other places, just not at home.
-loves orange juice
-spent the night away from home for the first time at her grandma and grandpa Osborn's house
-is extremely stubborn-usually sleeps from 8 pm to 7 am with about a 2 hour nap during the day
-likes to figure things out on her own. She doesn't like us showing her how to do something
-purposely makes silly faces to make us laugh-still loves playing with pens...especially all of mommy's gel pens! She likes to color too!
-is definitely a mommy's girl, but of course is excited when daddy comes home from work every day!-likes to yell just to be loud :)
-can now reach things on the table and counter so we have to push everything back that we don't want her to get

Little Miss Independent

So, Addison was in the middle of throwing a huge fit (because she didn't want to eat dinner) and she went in her room. I just let her be in there by herself for a while because, let's face it, I was fine with a little break from her! After she had been in there for a while I figured I better go check on her and this is what I found.She was crying the entire time while emptying her pants drawer and diaper drawer...haha! Good thing the diaper drawer wasn't completely full! :)

So when she finally decided to calm down...an hour after it started...she decided that she actually did want to eat dinner. But, she had to do it all by herself! She was actually doing a pretty good job using the spoon and didn't make much of a mess!
As you can see, she's not even sitting in her big girl chair...she is over that and now wants to sit only at her table! (We're still trying to decide if this is a battle we want to fight or if it's not a big deal for her to not sit with us at the table.) She's way too young to be this stubborn and independent! Our little baby is growing up too fast!

Big (stubborn) Girl

Addison has really been testing us lately, and her major battle right now is sitting down to eat. She would much rather eat on the go. She was getting to the point that she wouldn't eat because she didn't want to be in her high chair. A couple nights ago when sitting in her high chair, she ate a couple peas, a bite or two of her dinner, then she wanted out! I let her down and she wanted to sit on my lap, so I picked her up and right away she reached for daddy's bowl of peas. She ate one and reached for more, so I put her back in her high chair with the peas and what do you know, she started throwing a fit again. So, I let her down...she reached for the peas...I put her back in her seat, she threw a fit again...we did this a few times then I decided she was done. She threw a fit and rolled around on the floor for a good 20 minutes.
I wasn't gonna give in and let her do what she wanted to do, so the next night we thought we'd try to compromise with her and let her sit in a "big girl chair" at the table. She seemed to like the chair, but she, being the stubborn girl she is, didn't want to show us that we had won the battle just yet. She ate a little bit then wanted out...threw a fit for a little while, but not nearly as long as the night before.

Last night, the battle was even easier. She cried when she saw I was getting food ready and thought she needed to eat now, so she threw a fit, but it only lasted a couple minutes. Then once the food was done, she sat quietly in her "big girl chair" and ate her dinner!
We've almost won the battle! She's gonna see real fast that I'm just as stubborn as she is and I won't let her get away with it :)

Most nights after dinner we watch Wheel of Fortune then Friends. She likes to clap when everybody else does on Wheel and then when Friends comes on she runs into the room and dances to the song.

It's been a while

So, I've been wanting to post some recent pictures and tell about our Christmas, but I've just not been in the mood to do it. So, I finally just decided to make myself :) I got a new camera for Christmas, so I've been practicing a lot with it and have tons of pictures from the past month. I don't know how to use all the settings yet, but I'll figure it out eventually! Addison got lots of toy this Christmas and enjoys playing with all of them. She got two baby dolls...one from each of her grandparents. She loves them so much and carries them around very often. She'll put the cell phone up to the baby's ear and she's getting pretty good at saying baby!

She got this dog from her Great Grandma Betty. She plays with it all the time and since her Grandma Osborn showed her how to sit her baby on it, she was trying to sit on it too :) I'm just waiting for the tail to break off sometime soon! We've taken Addison to play out in the snow twice, but she didn't like it much...especially the first time! I don't think it helps that she doesn't like getting all the gear on to go outside in...then it just ruins her mood and she's not happy outside either.

We pull her on her sled down in the basement all the time, but she still wasn't too sure about riding it in the snow.
So, the 2nd time we took her out, Chunny just stood with her outside for a while and slowly let her see the snow and touch it. Then she was a little more comfortable and would actually let him put her down.

She still wasn't too sure about the sled for a while, but began to like it a little better toward the end!

She still would much rather just walk around and play on her own :)

We're hoping to take some pictures of the 3 of us soon, so we'll see if that actually happens...everyone would probably rather see pictures of Addison anyways! :)

Quest for a Christmas tree

We took advantage of the 50 degree weather on Saturday and went to cut down our Christmas tree. I think Addison was just happy to be outside! She had lots of fun and got a chance to see Santa, but was terrified of him! She cried the moment she got close to him. So, it looks like there'll be no picture with Santa this year :)

Since it's been warm the last couple of days we took advantage of it and went to the pumpkin patch yesterday...well, we actually didn't get to go to the patch because it was a week day and they didn't have hay rides out there and it was like a half-hour walk. So, we had to choose from the ones at the little store. Addison liked walking around with the little pumpkins and picking up rocks! She also got to take a little ride on a wagon as we picked out our pumpkins.
Today was even warmer than yesterday so Addison enjoyed walking around outside...playing with her new pumpkins and watching bugs :) Now that the weather is getting colder, Addison gets a little stir crazy being inside, so it's been nice to have a little break from the cold!

We got Addison's 1 yr. pictures taken a couple weeks ago. On a chilly Saturday morning we met the photographer at Bonneyville Mill. At first Addison was very hesitant and didn't want to be put down, but after a while, she finally felt more comfortable and she was walking all over the place. We actually couldn't even get her to sit for any pictures unless it was on our laps...she just wanted to check everything out :) So, here they are! We love how they turned out!

1st Birthday

Addison turned 1 year old on Sunday the 13th! I can't believe how fast the year has gone!!! Thinking back through the past year, it's amazing how much she's changed! We had a party for her on Sunday with her aunts, uncles, grandparents, and great grandparents. She got lots of new stuff, so she shouldn't be bored here at home for a while :) So at 1 year, Addison...

-weighs almost 19 lbs (11th percentile) and is 29.5" tall (55th percentile).
-has moved on to a big girl car seat and faces forward now. At first she didn't like the fact that she could see us, because that made her want to get out of her seat...and she had a hard time falling asleep because she can see out the front windshield and she just kept wanting to see what was going on. Now, she's getting more used to it all.
-is walking! She's pretty good at it now and hardly crawls. She hasn't quite gotten the hang of standing up by herself and only does it sometimes, so if she falls she'll crawl to something to stand up, then she walks until she falls or sits herself down again.
-likes to be silly and makes the funniest faces!
-goes between 1 and 2 naps a day. She's in the in-between stage where one day she'll take 1 nap and be exhausted by evening and go to bed early, then the next day she'll wake up early because she went to bed early and take 2 naps because she's tired from waking up early and only taking 1 nap the day before. It's a vicious cycle!
-loves to play outside. If she could be outside all day she'd be the happiest girl in the world. The problem is that she doesn't have much to do outside and just ends up scraping up her toes and knees on the sidewalk as she picks flowers from the landscaping (and tries to eat them too)!
-is a smart little girl. It's amazing to watch her figure things out for the first time! She's now realized that she can open any cabinet in any room, and not just certain ones in the kitchen. She opened a cabinet in the bathroom and found a jumbo size jug of hand soap, somehow figured out how to unscrew the cap off, and dumped soap all over the rug on the bathroom floor (all this while her daddy was "watching" her...hehe :) She also found where we keep her pacifiers (in a bowl on the end table in the living room) and will put one in her mouth and take the rest of them out to play with them, and every so often, switch to another pacifier in her mouth :)
-and since she's figuring so many things out, she's also starting to push her limits and then cries/screams when she can't do what she wants to do!
-has decided she doesn't like to take baths anymore. We now dread having to give her a bath because she cries and screams the whole time and tries to climb out of the tub! (any tips on this would be greatly appreciated!)
-grew 2 shoes sizes over the summer. Now she wears sizes 4 or 5.

Addison loves to climb! She always tries to get on the couches, but is still a little too small to do it herself. When we put her up there she'll just play and play :) The other day, she figured out how to get on her rocking chair in her room. She is so happy when she gets on there and she'll try to rock it :)
Today, I walked into the kitchen to see she found another place to climb in....the cabinet! It's really deep because it's in a corner, so there was plenty of room for her to play. I knew it was only a matter of time before she climbed inside since she tries to open any cabinet door she can! I designated a cabinet just to her so she can play :)

11 Months

Addison turned 11 months old on the 13th. Only 1 more month and she'll be a year old...hard to believe! So at 11 months, Addison...

-likes to climb any stairs around and will go down only if she wants...which isn't very often :)
-loves to play with shoes and grunts the whole time!
-opens drawers and takes everything out of them. Her favorites are her pajama drawer and the kitchen towel drawer.
-has discovered screaming again. She does it either when she's having a lot of fun playing, or when she is mad that she didn't get her way.
-likes to "throw" balls.
-is starting to figure out how to put toys into containers, instead of just taking them out.
-likes to take magnets off the fridge and put them back on.
-while she thought I wasn't watching, she actually stood up completely by herself in the middle of the hallway while playing with a toy, then took a couple steps, then sat back down, then stood up again, took another step...and then realized I was watching and crawled over to me :) We thought she'd definitely be walking by her 1st birthday, but I'm not so sure now!
-drops all her pacifiers on the floor when she wakes up in the morning or after her naps. We keep extras in there to help her find one when she wakes up but isn't ready to get up yet :)
-has finally learned how to drink out of a sippy cup.
-talks a lot and makes many facial expressions that make it seem like she knows exactly what she's talking about and we should understand her completely!

This past Friday we too a trip to the Potawatomi Zoo. Addison liked looking at and pointing to all the animals just about as much as she liked watching all the other kids there! At the end of the loop we went inside a building with more animals in it....that's where the funniest thing happened. There was this monkey in an area by itself and it was up by the glass looking into another monkey's area next to him. So, since it was so close to us and was watching us, I decided to get closer to the glass and look at him. He would then turn his head and look away, so I would move and look at him again. I did this a couple times until he finally got mad enough at me and showed me his teeth. I was thinking to myself that I better not do that any more and he lunged at the window slapping his hands on the glass. It scared me half to death!!! Chunny thought it was so funny and was laughing at me. I then started laughing, and Addison then started crying (she does this often when she's not sure how to react to something that scares her. If we don't react then she usually won't, but if we react in any way...no matter how...she usually starts to cry. She's soon fine with a little comfort from us). That incident was probably the highlight of the trip and we still laugh at the thought of it...hehe :)Taking a break from the stroller and going for a little walk :)

The flamingos were making lots of noise at some other birds that kept flying in their area. Addison just watched and watched them!

Then on Tuesday we decided to take Addison to the Dunes for the first time. She wasn't sure what to think of the sand at first, and would only stay on the blanket...but, after a while, she would go over to the edge and play with it a little. We were afraid she would put it in her mouth like she does with anything else she picks up, but she didn't! We took her by the water and she liked watching the waves splash. She would stand for a little while and let the water wash up on her feet, and then she want to sit, but once the water would wash up on her she didn't like and and would want to be picked up. You could tell she really wanted to play more in the sand and water, but at the same time she was scared of it. She also really liked watching all the seagulls flying all around. She would point to every one she saw. What she liked the most surprised us the most. She sat on the "big girl" beach chair and just played and played for probably about 40 minutes without even trying to get off of it. This was so surprising, coming from a girl who doesn't like to stay in one place for very long and has to be busy moving all the time. She would stand on the chair, bounce on it, and move around on it. It was kind of nice because it gave us a chance to just lay there and relax and get some sun while she played! Over all, it was a good first experience for Addison, except for the rash she got all over her body after being in the water. We're not sure if she's allergic to the water, got sun poisoning, or had a reaction to the sun screen (although she's worn it many times before and has been in the sun a decent amount this summer). The rash doesn't seem to be bothering her, so I guess that's the most important thing :)

At 10 months Addison...

-is finally getting another tooth. That makes 7 altogether.
-has just learned how to clap. She has always liked waving her arms up and down, then one day she realized her hands made a noise when she put them together. She loves to clap now and her claps are getting a little louder now.
-can wave on command :)
-tries to crawl over anything she can. Who cares if it's easier to go around, it's more fun to go over!
-had formula for the first time and LOVES it! This made weaning very easy for both me and her! Now she actually would prefer formula over any kind of food.
-went on her first boat ride and had lots of fun! She liked watching everyone tube and surf behind the boat.
-has started to point to things that she wants or people she recognizes.
-is still cruising around furniture, but is getting very close to walking. She'll let go of things and stand there for 10 - 15 seconds then let herself down slowly to the ground.
-loves cottage cheese. Now I have something else to mix vegetables in besides fruit :) She also likes almost any finger food...even if it is a vegetable. She still loves grahm crackers and another favorite is yogurt melts.
-does this cute/funny thing where she shakes her head side to side and smiles. I think this is one of her ways of being silly :)
-dances to music by bouncing up and down and shaking her head.

Father's Day Weekend

This weekend, we spent it mostly with family. On Saturday we had lunch at the Blackburns' and played some hillbilly golf. On Sunday we went to the Osborns' and swam, watched some old videos, and made some ice cream! Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

3/4 of a Year

I can't believe how fast 9 months has gone by. Addison has changed so much and it's so fun to see her grow. She had her 9 month check up yesterday and the doctor said she looks good! She is 27 3/4" long (55th percentile) and weighs 15 lb 11.5 oz (5th percentile). We knew she wouldn't weigh much since it just seemed she only got taller. We found Chunny's growth stats when he was a baby and she's pretty much following along with him :) I've been trying to take Addison's 9 month pictures, but it's just not working out so well. Either the weather is gloomy so I can't get good lighting for the pictures, or she just isn't in the mood to sit still long enough for me to take a couple good pictures (which is becoming a normal thing now). This is how the first photo shoot turned out. I'm hoping to get better ones soon!and at 9 months Addison...

-loves grahm crackers. So much that she would prefer them over baby food any time.
-went on her first camping trip. It went really well and Addison did better than I thought she would. The worst part was trying to get back to normal once we got home. Although she had a little play area to crawl around in, she didn't like being caged in all the time, so she ended up getting held a lot. So, the first couple days back home were rough for her because she didn't ever want to be set down.
-wears 9 month size clothing...but, she also fits into 0 - 3 month shorts. She'd probably wear smaller than 9 month pants, but they're the only ones that are long enough.
-likes to yell and talk really loud. Sometimes she makes sounds moving her tongue all around in her mouth, and other times she just yells in excitement :)
-dances to music and when she gets excited. The moment she hears music she'll bounce for a couple seconds and then she's done. It's pretty cute!
-has decided that now she doesn't like any vegetable except sweet potatoes. She will sometimes eat "grown-up" vegetables, but not always. She does, however, like any kind of fruit. Sometimes we can trick her into eating vegetables by mixing it in her fruit or some yogurt.
-loves taking rides in the stroller. She'll start "dancing" the moment you set her in it.

The Basement

It's been a while since we've shown our additions to the basement, so here they are...finally! The projector is up and running. We are enjoying watching movies on the big screen, and so is Addison (at least when we play Disney movies)!

We purchased a couch a month or two ago. There are some defects in the fabric, so we were able to get it at a nice cheap price! Under the projector is a cheap find from the Pottery Barn outlet store in Atlanta! It was supposed to be a part that sits on top of a desk, but it has some flaws in the clear finish and is a little scratched up on one side. The price was right though, so we got it! It hides most of the speaker wires really well...and keeps Addison away from them. We also got a great deal on a fridge. Chunny found it on Craig's List and it just happened to be in Wakarusa. It's a few years old and has some dents from them moving it a few times, but other than that, it is perfect for the basement!
My craft table and desk are done...now I just need to take the time to hang the pegboard and shelves on the wall, do a little decorating, and also a little organizing, then it'll be done! :) It's still been very nice to be able to actually use the room though and not have to make a mess on the kitchen table (Chunny is very happy about this too!) At some point we would like to add a computer desk to the basement as well as some decorations, but those aren't necessities and it will eventually get done.

Trip to Atlanta

Thought I'd share some pictures from when we went to Atlanta to visit Keith and Jenn. While there, we did a little shopping, went to the zoo, and enjoyed meeting their new little one, Collin! Addison had fun playing with the dogs...and the dogs' stuff! She did pretty good in the car for being 8 months old and not quite understanding why she had to be in her car seat so much. I did get her out every now and then to let her stretch out and move around :) It was a nice, fun, little vacation, and we enjoyed visiting our friends that we don't get to see very often!

Look at the huge whirlpool tub in our hotel room! We decided to wing it and not find a hotel until we were close to where we wanted to stop, and we had a hard time finding a room because there were a couple things going on that weekend. So, since it was 11 at night they gave us a huge suite for only $70! Addison enjoyed the tub the next morning...she had tons of room to move around in it!

A Little Late

We've been super busy the last couple weeks so I haven't gotten a chance to post much on the blog. We made a trip to Atlanta to visit Keith, Jenn, and Collin, then the day after we got back we met our friends Becca and Matt at Winona Lake for the day, and now we've been getting ready for the garage sale we're having this weekend. We had a lot of fun catching up with friends we haven't seen in a while but are also glad to not be quite so busy!

Addison turned 8 months old on the 13th and here are some pictures.

-pulls herself up on anything she can. She's also walking herself around furniture. We're sure she'll be walking soon!
-has developed a little language of her own and it's so cute to listen to her talk :)
-took her first very long car ride to Atlanta. We stayed at a hotel half way through so she didn't have to be in the car for too long. 7 hours in a car is long enough! She did pretty good for being such a busy little girl.
-does not like to sleep! This is getting really old too...hehe :) Some nights she'll wake up 5 or 6 times which is making mommy very tired! She is getting better though now that she's over her cold and her schedule is getting back to normal.
-is starting to look a little more like her daddy! She has a lot of the same expressions that he does, and she likes to smile and laugh at the silly faces he makes!
-has figured out how to open the doors on the TV cabinet. She would open the a door and pull everything out of it, so we had to baby-proof it.
-has decided she doesn't like green vegetables anymore. She has been great at eating any fruit or vegetable fed to her, but all of a sudden she decided against the green ones. Now we're trying different combinations of peas or green beans with other vegetables...and even fruits. This morning she ate peas mixed in the fruit mixture of apples and blueberries...smelled gross, but she ate it! haha!

Addison turned 7 months old on Monday.

So at 7 months, Addison...

-has learned to crawl!!! She has been crawling for about 2 weeks now and is getting pretty good at it now. At first she wouldn't go on the hard floors, but now she wants to crawl where we are. So if we walk into the kitchen, she'll follow...even if it means having a harder time crawling on the hard floor :)
-can also pull herself up to stand. She figured this out one night while crying in her crib trying to fight sleep. We walked in there to settle her back down and what do you know, she was standing! So, turns out we had to move the mattress down the next day.
-wants so badly to walk. She just needs to get the balance thing down first :)
-is starting to say 2 syllable sounds. Her favorite is ah-da.
-visited the Easter Bunny and did a great job! She was a little unsure about him at first, so we just let her watch for a little bit, then she sat on his lap and even smiled for the camera! (I'll post a picture of it once we get them. Turns out that an actual photography place took the pictures so we had to wait a week to get them...and pay a whole lot more than we should have!)
-hasn't quite figured out how to bounce, so she sticks her butt in and out while keeping her legs completely straight. She has started to figure out she can bounce in her exersaucer, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before she gets it down.
-is a very busy little girl. We thought she'd be more content once she started to crawl, but we were wrong. She wants to move onto the next thing, and gets frustrated when she can't figure it out! Looks like she has some of her daddy's personality...they're both not content sitting, they need to be doing something at all times :)
-had solid food for the first time. She's been watching us eat and even reaches for what we are eating, so I thought I'd try giving her the Gerber Graduates cereal. She's been practicing picking them up with her pointer finger and thumb (which was a little bit of a challenge at first) and she's getting the hang of it now. It was funny to watch her eat it for the first time. She wasn't sure about the texture, and got a funny look on her face, but it didn't take her long to figure out she needed to chew it. She's becoming a big fan of them now!
-absolutely loves our cat! If only the feelings were mutual...haha! When she sees Chesney she smiles and starts to crawl toward her. Once Addison gets too close, Chesney runs away...but usually returns and finds a new place to lay and watch. The first time Chesney realized Addison could crawl compltetly startled her. She came and layed about 3 feet away from Addison, thinking she wouldn't be bothered...but when Addison started crawling toward her she didn't know what to do. She just kept laying there with a concerned look on her face and the moment Addison touched her paw she jumped in the air and was out of there! She keeps her distance now!
-has 4 teeth. The last 2 are on the top and just started coming in this week. She's been a little fussy off and on, but they don't seem to bother her too bad.
-fights sleep like crazy! She'll be almost asleep in her crib, but the moment she wakes up a little and realizes she's sleeping, she has to get up and either crawl, sit up, or stand up. It makes letting her cry it out hard because she won't lay herself back down. What a stubborn little girl!
-is not as cooperative taking pictures as she used to be...and I know it'll only get worse :) She wasn't content sitting on the floor for the pictures and wanted to crawl away, but the moment I put her in the little rocking chair she was fine (at least for a minute or two).

For the past couple of weeks, Addison was able to crawl backwards, but she just couldn't quite figure out how to go forward. Finally, a couple days ago, she figured it out. Now she's on the move all the time and we're gonna have to start baby-proofing the house. We bought a baby gate so she doesn't go into the room where the kitty litter and food are, but that's it so far. She still gets fairly tired from crawling, so she doesn't go too far yet.

Since the weather was so nice today, Addison got to experience her first day outside! First Addison and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was nice to get out and not be cooped up in the house all day! Addison liked looking around at everything and didn't even make a sound. She was just taking it all in! :) Then when Chunny got home we went for a bike ride. I got to ride my new bike that I got for my birthday and Addison got to ride in her new baby seat! She really liked that too! Afterwards we sat Addison down in the grass so she could check it out. She just kept touching it and was concentrating so much on it that she wouldn't even look up at us for pictures :) We're looking forward to an even warmer day tomorrow!

At 6 months Addison...

-likes to say mmmmmm, and hasn't quite figured out how to say ma-ma... but, has just recently starting saying da-da-da-da-da and now that has become her new favorite sound to make! So, I guess you could say her first word was da-da :)
-can sit up all by herself.
-has 2 teeth.
-likes all the baby food she has tried (carrots, green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, applesauce, peaches, and prunes), but doesn't like bananas...she must be like her mommy :)
-gets really excited when she sees Chesney (our cat) and smiles and squeals!
-tries SO hard to crawl, but just hasn't figured it out yet. She goes backwards and gets frustrated when she moves away from her toys and can't reach them.
-has an orange and yellow stuffed monkey that is her favorite toy. It came from her play mat and she loves it!
-is usually calmed by her pacifier...I don't know if that's necessarily a good or bad thing!
-talks up a storm and laughs a lot...especially when she's tired.
-has been waking up at midnight every night. I think it's just because she wants to see her mommy :) but we're trying to kick her of that habit...now we just have to figure out how!
-enjoys watching TV...don't know if that's a good or bad thing either :)
-gives big hugs and usually pulls your hair or scratches you while she's at it! She's got a good, tight grip!
-is still pretty jumpy and gets scared at the least expected things.
-got her first hair cut at 5 1/2 months old. The mullet/rat tail was looking pretty bad! We have a cute little hair sample tied in a bow for a keepsake :)
-has a brand new friend born on her 6 month birthday...Collin Bradley Fishburn! Both Addison and Collin's fathers have arranged their marriage already...hehe :) Congrats Keith and Jenn!

Basement update

We've been working on lots of things in the basement lately and here are a few pictures:

We put shelves up in the closet in Trisha's scrapbook/craft room. Everything is still in boxes until the rest of the room gets finished.

This is going to be a long desk in Trisha's scrapbook room. We're just waiting for the counter top to be cut to size.

This is a tall craft table Jon's dad made for Trisha's scrapbook room. We're also waiting for the counter top for this one too :)

We had a little fiasco in the bathroom. Turns out that right where the cabinet was screwed in to the wall was a water pipe. We didn't notice water for a few days since the screw somewhat acted as a stopper and only allowed a little bit of water to leak out. When we unscrewed the cabinet water started gushing out of the wall and the floor was covered in water! We tried quickly to remove the cabinet but couldn't get it out so we had to take the trim off both sides of the wall. While doing this Jon made a big dent in the wall trying to pry the trim off. So, now all of it is getting fixed and luckily nothing was really damaged from the water. Once we bought the counter top for the vanity we found that it's a little too big since the vanity sits against the wall and the counter top is supposed to hang over...thus causing the sink to be too far over for the left drawer to fit in, so we are going to sand the right side down so it will fit better. We also noticed that once we got the cabinet in the light above it isn't centered, so we'll have to move that over too. We're glad this is really the only room we've had problems in...hehe!

We bought this cabinet the other night at Circut City's closeout sale. It matches perfectly with the color of the kitchen cabinets. This is going to house all of the electronics, such as the receiver, DVD player, Wii, X Box, cable box, and radio.

This has been a very exciting week for Jon because he's had many boxes delivered for the basement. He got his projector and the screen so far, and we're still waiting for the receiver, the mount for the projector, and some wall plates that hide the wires.
This is the wall where the screen for the projector is going. You can see the screen material laying on the floor. We are going to make the frame for it to be attached to then we'll put it on the wall above the speakers.

We also got the counter top for the kitchen this week! The cabinets were installed a couple weeks ago and the counter top is installed. The molding at the top of the cabinets still needs to be installed, as well as the sink. So, the basement is coming out nicely and even though there are still a few things left to get done, it's come a long way and we're excited to have it done so we can actually use the space!

-is starting to get her first tooth. We just noticed this morning that you can feel a little bit of the tooth.
-is not a big fan of playing Peek-A-Boo. She likes it at first and laughs, but after a couple times, she gets upset that I have left and gets a big pouty lip and starts to cry!
-has discovered that she likes to scream. She especially does it a lot when she's a little bit tired :)
-is getting much better at the whole hand-eye coordination and doesn't get frustrated nearly as easily when reaching for toys.
-does a good job sitting up in her high chair.
-has conquered eating rice cereal and carrots. I think green beans will be next :) Chunny says I have to try all the foods that I feed her, knowing that I don't like many vegetables, but I disagree!
-really wants to be able to sit up so she can play with her toys easily, but can't quite do it yet. She can hold herself up, but she just keeps falling to the side.
-usually talks to herself in her crib after she wakes up...very cute to listen to!!!
-makes many different sounds when talking.
-found her thumb...and we're not too happy about that! (although it's cute too!) She goes in spurts and some days she does it a lot and other days not at all.
-can somewhat walk while we hold onto her hands.
-puts anything in her mouth that she can get her hands on! We really have to watch out for what's on the table or in front of her!
-talks to herself while playing or sitting in the car, and not just when being talked to anymore :)
-likes to be swung and thrown up in the air!
-has grown enough hair in the back that it can be put in a pony tail :)
-would rather chew on the ribbon attached to her pacifier clip than the pacifier itself!
-usually fights sleeping and stiffens and straightens her body to keep from being lulled to sleep.
-is beginning to show such a personality!!!

Ever since we painted the foyer/hallway yellow, I thought it was ok, but didn't like it that much. So, I finally gave in and we repainted it the same color as our kitchen. It looks SO much better!

Also, we gave Addison rice cereal for the first time last night. I don't really know how much she really ate, but I think she may have swallowed a couple times...hehe :) She seemed to take to it well, but then became more interested in the spoon than eating! What a big girl!

A few updates

1. Addison had her 4 month Dr. appointment today. She weighed in at almost 14 lbs. and is 25" long. She's still a little longer than average, but not as much as she was at her last appointment. She also had to get 2 shots today and did better than I expected. She didn't cry with the first shot and the 2nd made her cry for about 30 seconds, then she was fine! What a tough little girl! :)

3. It seems like our blog is all about Addison these days...probably because there's not a whole lot else going on. But...our cabinets for the basement were ordered this week so we should be getting them in a couple weeks. We'll post pictures once they're in. I'm excited to get the cabinets, not because there will be a kitchen in the basement, but because 3 of them are going in my craft room! There's gonna be a long desk along one wall, then I'm gonna have a counter height table in the middle of the room also. We'll probably put some shelves in the closet for more storage. I'm looking forward to finally being able to unpack my scrapbook/art stuff so I don't have to dig through boxes to find things!

I can't believe how fast time is going...I probably say this on every post, but it's so true! Addison is changing more and more every day!

At 4 months Addison...

-tries to put anything in her mouth then gets mad when it's too heavy or too big to get in her mouth.
-has lost so much hair. She used to have a section of thick long hair along the bottom of her head, but now it's turned into more of a little spot of thick long hair right in the middle.
-likes sitting in her exersaucer that her Great Grandma Sipe got her. She pushes the buttons to make the sound and lights come on...although I don't think she really realizes she is doing this :). Sometimes she'll just stare at all the colors. Time is usually limited in it though once she decides she wants something in her mouth and again, can't get it there!
-doesn't like her bouncer much any more. She has almost outgrown it and the toys are just far enough away that she can reach them but they come about a quarter of an inch away from her mouth...and guess what...that makes her mad. haha!
-has rolled from her stomach to her back (but only a couple times) and also from her back to her stomach...which she does all the time!
-is becoming to be somewhat of an impatient little girl. I know she doesn't get that from her mother! :)
-has to be rocked or swayed asleep while wrapped up tightly in a blanket with a pacifier. Once she's asleep she usually goes down easliy in her crib. We figured out what the noise outside was that was keeping her awake and she sleeps pretty good now.
-is a drooling machine! If she's not spitting up then she's drooling...and I know the worst is yet to come once she starts teething!
-has started to notice animals, but just stares at them. Chesney, our cat, is also getting a little more brave and will come up to her and sniff her, but if Addison moves she backs up.
-is becoming more aware of her surroundings. Sometimes, if she doesn't recognize the place she's in and she realizes that it's not her mom or dad holding her, she'll get scared and start to cry.
-was babysat for the first time by her Grandma and Grandpa Osborn. She did great and even took the bottle easily!
-won't sleep if there's too much going on. If there are a lot of people over, or if we're in a store, she has to stay awake just so she doesn't miss what's going on.
-just today started scooting herself forward while on her tummy. She probably moved about 6 inches within a matter of 4 or 5 minutes...hehe :)

Ice covering everything. The door mat was froze to the ground, our garage door wouldn't open, and we had to pick away at the ice to get the mailbox to open!

It's a good thing we got our Christmas tree last weekend because it probably would have been impossible this weekend. Plus, the trees were pretty picked over so we ended up getting a different kind of tree that we normally wouldn't get...although it is pretty :) While we looked for our tree, Addison slept in the car close by. We were hoping she'd get to experience her first tree hunt, but I guess we'll have to wait until next year!

At 3 months, Addison...

LOVES to "talk" and smile when you talk to her. She'll even smile at the tv or something else that catches her attention!
has gone on her first airplane to Orlando. She did great the whole trip! She slept most of the time on the plane and she enjoyed riding in her stroller as we went on walks.
went swimming for the first time! She didn't quite know what to think of it and was just still in the water like she is when she takes a bath :)
is starting to grab objects in front of her. She isn't very accurate but she's doing pretty good. She's also trying to put the objects in her mouth but instead of bringing the object to her, she tries to move towards it...which she can't do yet since she can't even sit up on her own.
likes to stand while you hold her up.
is starting to like her pacifier more and more. It calms her when she gets tired.
fights her sleep no matter how tired she is.
slept in her crib for the first night this week, but keeps waking up and we can't figure out why. When she sleeps in the bassinet in our room she sleeps most of the night through.
is getting her first cold with a runny nose and a little cough.

Addison is 2 months old!

At 2 months Addison...
-smiles a lot at both people and objects.
-loves to be talked to and tries to "talk" back!
-sleeps in her bassinet all night...no more sleeping in the swing!!!
-sleeps anywhere between 4 and 6 hours straight every night.
-eats every 3 to 4 hours.
-likes to look at herself in the mirror and smile at her own reflection :)
-doesn't really like tummy time.
-is starting to grip objects, although not for very long.
-is usually calmed down by her pacifier, but has a hard time keeping it in her mouth by herself. She likes to hold onto our fingers while we hold the pacifier in her mouth.
-loves to be rocked to sleep.

-fits into most 3 month clothing...and is getting too long for 3 month sleepers! She's gonna be a tall one!
-enjoys riding in the car...unless she's hungry!

Just an update

Addison had her 8 week check-up yesterday. The doctor said she looks healthy and is doing well! She has definitely grown a lot since she was born. Her weight is just about average at 11 lbs. 5oz., and she is 23 3/4" long, which is in the 94th percentile for her age. The doctor commented that she's pretty long! She also had to get her first set of shots. She did pretty good. She only cried for a minute or two then was fine! That's about all that's been going on around here. Jon is going to take a day off of work on Friday to hang out with me and Addison then he's planning to go hunting this weekend. He's hoping to be able to shoot a deer, so we'll see how that goes :) The first picture is of Addison's band-aids she got at the doctor's office. The other picture is her starting at the butterflies on her wall above her changing table. She likes to look at them whenever her diaper is being changed and is even starting to smile at them!

Addison turned 1 month old on October 13th. I can't believe how fast it's gone.

At 1 month, Addison...
-is an expert at scratching herself in the face. When she is unhappy, she gets so worked up that she starts waving and rubbing her hands on her face.
-goes through many burp cloths in a day. She's starting to get the burping thing down, but we're still working on it :)
-is starting to smile on purpose instead of just when she's gassy!
-believes she needs to eat the exact moment she wakes up...even if she hasn't slept for very long.
-likes to lay in her crib and watch the musical light up toy that Grandma Lechlitner got her.
-is just starting to like her swing. Finally something that puts her to sleep besides me rocking her!
-won't sleep flat on her back. Has to lay in her swing on her side, or sometimes on her back, or on my chest. The only way she'll sleep on a flat surface is on her stomach.
-grunts and cries when she's hungry.
-is starting to make cooing noises.
-follows movement of toys or her mom and dad!
-is so cute and does something new every day!!!

Our new arrival!!!

Addison was finally born on Sept 13 at 10:24 pm!! We arrived at the hospital Saturday morning at 8am and Trisha began having hard labor at 9:30am. They even broke her water at noon and found that Addison had had a bowel movement and so the fluid was greenish, which made them be even a little more aggressive because of the chance that she swallowed some of that fluid. As the day progressed, she still wasn’t dilated and so we decided to go ahead w/ an epidural at 8pm to see if that would help. They started a medication to help along labor but it dropped the baby’s heart rate and at that point the doctor wanted to do a c-section, and we agreed. It all went well and I was able to watch the whole surgery, which I was nervous about but after I got in there I thought it was really neat!! Addison weighed in at 7 lb 2.9 oz and 21.5 inches long. She definately had Trisha’s facial features, a full head of dark hair and the Lechlitner toes!

Trisha is recovering really well and we’re starting to get a little more sleep each night as we learn more and more about Addison’s likes/dislikes. Visitors are welcome, so come on over if you want, just give us a call so we know to expect you!

Well, both due dates (Sept. 7 & 9) have come and gone and still no baby! I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable now and am having a hard time getting a good night's sleep. So, with the baby room ready and not much to do but wait, I decided to pass some time and take some pictures of my ever growing belly and the completed baby room :)
